I know Cal has home and home deals with N. Carolina, Texas and potentially Texas Tech. I love the Texas matchup as well as recent matchups with Tennessee and Ohio St. Frankly, I did not mind the recent Northwestern series because it brought two "academic" institutions together. If memory serves me right, we played Miami in the 90's, Nebraska in the 90's, Wisconsin in the 90's, Georgia in the 70's, Michigan in the 70's, I remember Oklahoma either in the 80's or 90's, but I don't think the Sooner ever came to Berkeley. Those teams brought some excitement to the schedule. I think Cal should have one traditional power on its non conference schedule each year. Below is my wish list in order of preference:

1. Penn St. - given Barbour's new role...this actually could happen. But love the matchup.
2, Alabama - Who wouldn't want to see Bama Roll into Berkeley?
3. Florida - SEC power vs Cal...frankly big upside for Cal from a recruiting standpoint.
4. LSU - Great treat for Cal fans to experience a night game down in the bayou.
5. Notre Dame - won't happen as long as the golden domers keep their game with Stanford.
6. Michigan - its about time to make this matchup happen...been over 40 years since they have played.
7. Georgia - great matchup against another SEC power.
8. Florida St. - would love to get the Seminoles out of the south for a game.
9. Texas A&M - great for recruiting players out of Texas for Cal
10. Oklahoma
11. Wisconsin
12. Virginia Tech.
13. West Virginia - would be confusing for fans...as their uniforms are almost identical.
14. TCU
15. South Carolina
16. Clemson
17. Georgia Tech - another nice academic matchup...good for recruiting
18. Vanderbilt - nice academic matchup
19. Mississppi
20. Mississippi St.
21. Arkansas
22. San Jose St. - great local matchup...but only downside for Cal. But I like it anyway
