In trying to think (read:steal) of new ideas for articles, I found a couple about class composition, so I decided to go year by year to look at how much attrition has affected the roster.
Class of 2015
Total Recruits: 24
Number remaining: 2
Number that graduated on time: 7
Number that transferred out: 10
Number that left football: 5
Best player from the class: Jaylinn Hawkins
Best player from the class still at Cal: Luc Bequette
Class of 2016
Total recruits: 27
Number remaining: 7
Number that graduated on time: 6
Number that transferred out: 9
Number that left football: 5
Best player from the class: Evan Weaver
Best player from the class still at Cal: Cam Bynum or Jake Curhan
Class of 2017
Total Recruits: 18 (four added after signing day in Steven Coutts, Valentino Daltoso, Siu Fuimaono, and Alonso Vera)
Number remaining: 11
Number that graduated on time: 3
Number that transferred out: 2
Number that left football: 2
Best player from the class at Cal: Chase Garbers
Class of 2018
Total Recruits: 22
Number remaining: 13
Number that graduated on time: 2
Number that transferred out: 4
Number that left football: 3
Best player from the class at Cal: Chris Brown
Class of 2019
Total recruits: 25 (Humphries/Modster/Crawford added to the 22 from HS/JC)
Number remaining: 25
Best player from the class at Cal: BRETT JOHNSON
Class of 2020
Total recruits: 25 (26 including the Rutchena greyshirt)
Former walk-ons who earned scholarships: 4
Walk-ons: 28
Attrition really hit the 2015-16 classes hard with the transition between coaching staffs. This year is one of the first times they'll have close or up to the 85 scholarship mark, at least as of this moment.
