Wazzu is sitting at 2-1 after losing to FCS Portland State in week 1 and then beating Rutgers and Wyoming.

They open P12 play against Cal on this upcoming Saturday.

Here is an article on how Wazzu folks are feeling so far about their season:

A few key takeaways:
  • ''We've got a lot of work to do, there's no question,'' coach Mike Leach said.
  • ''I think the biggest thing is we've got to become more cohesive on all sides of the ball. Not so much on an individual level but playing together.''
  • One goal this week is to find a way to avoid playing at the level of the opponent (e.g. loss to Portland State)
  • Falk agreed the Cougars need to put together a complete game.
A few facts so far this season:
  • Scoring 28.2 ppg, allowing 24 ppg
  • Passing yards per game: 363 yards. Rushing yards per game: 86 yards (that seems decent for a Leach coached team)!
  • Their QB Luke Falk is 111-152 (73% completion) with 8 TD's and 1 INT
I think Cal can beat Wazzu. It will likely be a shoot-out, but if our offense is playing well I think we outscore them. QB Luke Falk might also make some inexperienced based mistakes too....especially if our D plays hard and causes turnovers.
