Pac-12 Reveals Game Times, Television Pairings For 2019-20 Women’s Basketball Season

– Cal fans, mark your calendars! Game times and television pairings for Cal women’s basketball have been officially set for the upcoming season, the Pac-12 announced on Thursday morning.

Tip times for all non-conference and conference games are now available, as preparations for the upcoming season are in full swing. Cal’s schedule features a total of 17 home games and 21 televised matchups, and for the first time, all 108 Pac-12 conference games will be televised this season.

Fans can get their first look at the 2019-20 team in action when the Bears host a pair of exhibition games at Haas Pavilion. Cal will take on Chinese squad Beijing Normal University on Sunday, October 27, before squaring off against Vanguard on Sunday, November 3. Both exhibition games will be at 2 p.m. PT.

After 12 seasons in Berkeley as an assistant and later associate head coach, Charmin Smith’s first official game as head coach of the Golden Bears will take place on Friday, November 8, when the Cal tips off the season on the road at Harvard. The season opener against the Crimson will be played at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and will be available for viewing on ESPN+. Cal continues its East Coast road trip on Sunday, November 10, playing perennial power UConn at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut.

The Bears then return to Berkeley, hosting UC Riverside at 5 p.m. PT on November 17, in their home opener at Haas Pavilion and the first of 17 home games this season.

Other notable home matchups for the Bears this season include matchups against SEC contenders Arkansas (November 24 at 2 p.m. PT) and Kentucky (December 21 at 4 p.m. PT), as well as the return of the Cal Classic.

The Bears’ semi-annual tournament, the Cal Classic will be held at Haas Pavilion on November 29 and 30, as the Bears welcome North Carolina Central, Long Beach State, and Penn State. The first day features matchups between Cal and NC Central (1 p.m. PT), and Penn State and Long Beach State (3:15 p.m. PT), with consolation and championship games scheduled for the following day.

Cal will makes its first appearance of the year on Pac-12 Networks on December 14, hosting Santa Clara at 4:30 p.m. PT. The Saturday clash between the Bears and the Broncos is the first game in a double-header with the Cal men’s basketball team, who host East Bay rival Saint Mary’s at 7:30 p.m. PT.

The Bears open Pac-12 play at home shortly after the new year, welcoming Washington (Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. PT) and Washington State (Jan. 5 at 12 p.m. PT) to Haas Pavilion. All 18 of Cal’s conference games this year will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.

Next on the schedule for the Bears is the annual Battle of the Bay, Cal’s home-and-home clash against rival Stanford. The first leg of the series will played on January 10 at Maples Pavilion (7 p.m. PT), before a January 12 re-match at 5 p.m. PT at Haas Pavilion.

Cal’s first true road trip of conference play takes the Bears to the Pacific Northwest for matchups against Oregon State (Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. PT) and Oregon (Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. PT).
Cal’s sixth-annual School Haas Rock game will take place on Friday, January 24, when the Bears host Utah at 12 p.m. PT. The midday game has become a staple on Cal’s calendar, coupling competition with educational events targeted towards elementary and middle school-age children in the Bay Area. The weekend continues with a noon tipoff against Colorado on Sunday (Jan. 26).

Next up is a return trip up the Pacific coast, as the Bears visit Washington State (Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. PT) and Washington (Feb. 2 at 12 p.m. PT).

Cal returns for Berkeley for a two-game homestand against USC (Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. PT) and UCLA (Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. PT), before heading to the Rockies for matchups against Colorado (Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. PT) and Utah (Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. PT).

The Bears will host the Oregon schools for their final home weekend of the year, beginning with the Ducks on the Friday night (Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.) and closing against the Beavers that Sunday (Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. PT).

The final weekend of the regular season will see the Bears on the road, visiting Arizona State (Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. PT) and Arizona (March 1 at 11 a.m. PT) to close out conference play.The 2020 Pac-12 Tournament begins on Thursday, March 5 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and continues through Sunday, March 8. All games at the Pac-12 Tournament will be televised on either Pac-12 Networks or ESPN.
