I received an email from our Chancellor which made my day, gives me hope that Cal Athletics will survive and possibly flourish in the future, and reads as follows:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hxxxxxxxxx,
I am grateful for your support of the California Legends Collective. Thanks to loyal and generous friends like you, we can recruit and retain top talent; support Cal student-athletes; and compete at the highest level, all while providing our student-athletes with an experience that matches the caliber of their academic and athletic achievements.
As you may have heard me say, Cal Athletics is a key factor in bringing together the campus and the alumni communities. Our student-athletes are a tremendous source of pride, and as we enter this new era of college sports, we will have no greater priority than protecting and preserving all that they and Cal Athletics bring to UC Berkeley.
With your dedication, the California Legends Collective provided the resources to make Cal’s uncompromising pursuit of excellence possible, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Go Bears!
