I caught up with Cal commit Cam Sidney tonight and he is all set to sign with the Bears this Wednesday. He has made his decision. He tells me the reason he opted not to sign was that he just didn't feel like he had the full opportunity to learn everything he wanted about Cal and the program earlier because he was so invested in his season. So, he wanted to make sure that what he felt when he committed was still true until the end. He did say that Boise State was a program that had his attention and did decide to take a visit there, but ultimately that program didn't give him the same feeling that he has with Cal and its coaching staff. He also said Nevada was in the mix until its coaching change as well.

Sidney was able to meet with the Cal staff on an in-home visit last month where the two sides cleared the air on a lot of things, but he still wanted to wait it out and sign in February over signing in December. He added that the rumors about Justin Wilcox possibly leaving to coach at Oregon also played some part in his hesitation to sign in December. Ultimately, he said he just loves Berkeley and Cal too much to go anywhere else.

So, he's ready to lock things in with the Bears this week.
