Jacksonsville State transfer center Daveion Harley commits to Cal
The Havana, Florida native played in 25 games and made 9 starts over two seasons with the Gamecocks.
Cal added a proven piece to its offensive line group Monday with the addition of Jacksonville State center Daveion Harley. He had some inconsistent PFF numbers but had high marks for his ability in pass protection. He also has played the position before, which is something that the Bears don't have on the roster with either Tyson Ruffins or Lamar Robinson who are both learning on the job at Cal this offseason.
Harley will give Famika Anae some flexibility up front and could eventually slot in as the starting center depending on how quickly he picks things up. Trent Ramsey had moved to center in the spring and served as the primary backup to Ruffins but eventually Robinson slid into that role before Anae moved Ruffins to guard and let Robinson run with the 1s at center.
Harley will have two seasons of eligibility at Cal.
