Cal-related observations from the release of the new Rivals100 for the 2016 class:
- Shurod Thompson slides from #75 to #100. Still Cal's highest ranked current commit. He didn't do anything wrong, other prospects just nosed ahead.
- LB Caleb Kelly is at #19 overall and a 5-star. The highest rated Cal target who is at least somewhat attainable. Think Cal could hang around in this one but more likely a bridesmaid than a bride.
- Folsom OL and Bama commit Jonah Williams is a new 5-star and #24 overall. Cal was never in serious contention here, despite his locale.
- Ole Miss commit and Cal WR target DeKaylin Metcalf checks in at #34 overall.
- Notable because they hold offers but are still unlikely:
- Elk Grove DB Lamar Jackson at #81
- Poly ATH Jack Jones at #91
- Centennial WR Javon McKinley at #99
- Notable because he's been mentioned here but is not really being recruited:
- Bishop Amat WR Trevon Sidney at #97 (academic concerns here)
