Key points:
- Finishing up game prep for Grambling
- Biggest thing for us is guys returning at all positions
- DL: Kragen, Looney, Jalil, DeVante Wilson
- LB: 3 deep at that position
- Safety: McClure, Drew
- CB: Number of guys returning
- Back at positions they've already played before. That is a big deal
- During season, going to play:
- 2 deep at DL
- 2 deep or 3 deep at LB
- 2 deep or maybe 3 deep by end of season DB
- Anxious to see where we're at. One full year in the system
- Drew: He's done well. He'll be the starter in the game. One year more mature, now in better condition (down 10+ lbs and moves like it)
- McClure: Biggest was that he was a safety last year, just like he is this year. Year+ of mental prep at safety. He acts like a coach out there, really understands what we're doing.
- Who has stood out to you:
- DeVante Wilson, Jalen Jefferson, and Darius White. They've all made big jumps since the spring. Also Demariay Drew, wasn't sure what Kaufman was getting with him
- Trey Turner: an impressive guy for being a freshmen. Will be used at either field or nickel

Defense is all about how we adjust during a game, that is what it is all about. Find out what they're doing. Then make adjustments. Need to keep the schemes simple enough you can play
My commentary: For some reason I am glad that Kaufman is saying the same thing I think we're all wondering: Where are we at (with the defense)? Beginning this week, and especially in week 3 in Austin, we'll begin to find out.
