On the heels of the decision by Roderick Robinson II today, Cal has decided to offer another 2023 running back with College Station, Texas back Marquise Collins announcing his offer from the Bears just a few minutes ago. Collins is already moving along in the process as he now has over 30 offers. Cal is jumping in a little bit later than most programs and will have to now work to make up some ground. He already has a top eight established with a couple Pac-12 schools in the mix. He announced a month ago that his focus would be on Arizona, Utah, Duke, TCU, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Boston College and Houston. Collins has official visits set up with Arizona and Duke in June so far.

He is a different back than Robinson since he is not as big but has much more versatility to his game overall. Collins is definitely attracted to the Pac-12 schools that have pursued him, so he will be one to watch moving forward.

Cal offers 2023 QB Aidan Chiles

Cal became the latest school to jump into the mix with an offer for Downey, California quarterback Aidan Chiles. The 6-foot-4 recruit has put together an impressive offseason and lately it has turned into a recruiting surge. Washington, Oregon, Washington State and Kansas State have offered him within the last two weeks. I've watched him throw on a few occasions this spring, and he is definitely impressive. This is a good offer for the Bears. Not sure I've seen him have a bad day in my viewings of him. He can hit on the deep ball and has great size to go with his passing ability. Chiles just visited UW over the weekend the Huskies seem to be in strong position with him but Oregon State and Kansas State are other schools that have emerged as top contenders. I do think there is an opening for Cal to make a move if it is willing to go all in with him but it will have to make up some ground on the other schools here in the near future since he has a few official visits already in the works.

I'm a little surprised more schools have not jumped on board with him. It took me watching him one day to realize that he has Power Five-level talent.

New MBB offer: '23 PF Devin Williams

Cal offered 2023 power forward Devin Williams today. The three-star prospect plays for one of the state's top teams, Centennial HS in Corona, which just won the Open Division state title over the weekend in Sacramento. He's a 6-foot-10 playmaker, and I'm honestly surprised more high-major programs haven't become involved already. I've actually watched him a lot throughout his career, and he is definitely making bigger strides as a junior. He has always had a strong game, but he has taken things to a new level in recent months. He's a bouncy forward who can step out and hit shots plus he has a ton of potential as a defensive player with his length and leaping ability.

Washington, USC, Texas Tech and San Diego State are some of his other offers. He's going to be someone to watch this spring and summer as he continues to move through this process, but this is a strong offer for Cal and it comes at a good time. There is a good chance he ends up blowing up thanks to his quick development, and it's not a bad thing to be one of the schools in the mix before the potential rush.

Some big news for Cal this evening as Rivals100 four-star cornerback Ryan Yaites from Guyer HS in Denton, Texas has trimmed his list down to four schools. He previously released a top 8 that did not include the Bears, but his new list does include Cal along with Texas Tech, LSU and Michigan State. Cal is the only new addition to the list after the other three were already included on his previous list of finalists that was released New Year's Day.

The Bears have made a strong push in Texas and now are right in the mix with Yaites, who cut USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas and Ole Miss from his list in the latest round of cuts. Yaites was once rated as high as the 43rd-best prospect in the class. He now ranks 73rd overall and is considered the 11th-best cornerback recruit in the 2023 class and the 11th-best prospect in Texas in the cycle. At 6-foot-2, Yaites could play either cornerback or safety in college. Schools have recruited him at both positions up until this point.

Rivals100 prospect Mikal Harrison-Pilot recaps his Cal visit from last weekend

Mikal Harrison-Pilot, the four-star ATH from Texas who Cal is recruiting as a WR, had great things to say about his visit to campus last weekend.

The latest on Cal's 2023 RB recruiting picture (including a brief conversation with Marquise Collins)

I did connect briefly -- and I mean briefly -- with new RB offer Marquise Collins, but here's an overview of where the RB recruiting picture stands.

Latest: 2023 DB Maliki Crawford sets Cal official visit

Cal is among the schools staying most consistent in the process with cornerback recruit Maliki Crawford. He enjoyed his time on campus in March and has now set an official visit with the Bears in June. It is one of two official visits he has planned that month so far with USC being the other school. He is still working on setting up other visits, but it is a positive sign that the Bears have secured one of his summer official visits. RJ Jones continues to put make it clear to him that he is wanted with the Bears, and that relationship has certainly helped the process overall.

“Things with Cal have been going great. One of my homies from my 7-on-7 team he committed there, so he’s after me pretty hard. What stands out to me is that’s a defensive staff. The head coach is a defensive guy. Obviously, you got the D-coordinator. You got two defensive backs coaches on the staff and the best FCS corners coach [Allen Brown] on the staff as well, as an analyst. So, they’re definitely trying to build that DBU out at Cal. So, that’s something that stands out to me as well.”

You can read my full update with Crawford at the link up top. He says he is not in any kind of rush to make his commitment since he already feels like he rushed into one time with his previous pledge to UCLA. So he is not sticking to any specific timeline though he wants to continue taking visits.
