Maybe it's just me but it seems that among recent QB battles this one has been surprisingly low key. The competition in 2013 got a lot more attention, but it seems to me there may be more at stake here. No one expects the new guy to be Goff, but there's plenty of precedent in this conference for a less talented guy stepping into the shoes of a departing established starter and still being highly productive. And if we have a solid (or better) QB, projections stand to change significantly.
No matter what you think of the team's prospects this year, they're not going to succeed without strong play from the QB position. While it would be nice to believe that the competition might drag on because the field is strong, it would be really nice to see someone emerge sooner rather than later.
