Here's the notes I have on these guys. Ask any questions about anyone here
Biggest targets for Cal at this are Taylor-Stuart, Brown, Lamb, and Stephens. A hope would be that Alftin will try to recruit a few guys down here, I’ll ask him about it if I see him on Saturday at the open practice.
This will be one of the first times coaches will get to see Jake Peters move on a football field since his achilles injury. If all goes well, I expect Peters to have a Cal offer by the end of the weekend. Same with Isaia, I’m surprised that he doesn’t have one already, but he’s interested in Cal. Among the other unoffered players, Harvey was Taariq Johnson and Jeremiah Hawkins’ QB at Buena Park, Griffin O’Connor was Mike Saffell’s QB, and Austin Jones is a real good RB at O’Dowd.
Among the other offers, there’s big ones like Amon-Ra, Sewell, and the rest of the Utah contingent (Maile, Masina, Aniglau and Pututau). One I’d want to see the results for is Syr Riley. I expect a bump for Riley up from being unrated. He likes Cal and vice-versa, and considering the need for linemen (five or so in the class), he’d be a take in line with what Alftin and Tevis have been for the defense. He was the lineman of the year in his conference and he has plenty of room to improve.
Also of note on the line, Matthew Cindric, who is set to visit Cal this spring, Brandon Mello, from Concord’s Clayton Valley, Chris Murray, another Mater Dei guy, and Steven Jones, the final offer of the Sonny Dykes era. Murray and Jones weren’t offered by this staff, and Jones is from the same school Michael Onyemaobi is from (and top center prospect Justin Dedich is from), so the new staff hasn’t built up the same relationship with Chaparral, though they’ll get there if they keep producing talented prospects. They’re going after all four of these guys though, along with Matteo Mele. Cindric and Mello are more interested in Cal than the others though.
Other couple at tight end are Castles and Smalls. Castles has gotten quite a bit of attention by Pac-12, as Colorado likes him. Smalls has been offered less, but he has an offer from Oregon, who he likes a lot. Cal likes both of them, and they’ll take two TEs in the class.
