Rivals has updated their Top 150 for the 2020 hoops recruiting class, which you can check out here. A bunch of guys with Cal offers are on the list, but most of them are guys who have either committed elsewhere or at the moment appear to be heading elsewhere (E.g. Ziaire Williams, Jalen Green, Greg Brown, and Nimari Burnett). I don't want to compile a list of all of those guys as well. So what I'll do is list the guys on the list who I feel Cal has a shot at landing.
#19. 5-star center Walker Kessler: Even though I don't think Kessler will choose Cal, to his credit he did include them in his Top 6. So he warrants acknowledgement on here. It is conceivable that he takes an unofficial visit and has his mind blown by all that Cal has to offer.
#71. 4-star point guard Hassan Diarra: I have not received any indication that Cal has no shot with him. It's just that it's hard to pinpoint who the front runners are. Let me reach out to him again this week and see if he's willing to do an interview.
#83. 4-star small forward Kerwin Walton: One of Andrew Francis' recruits. In case you didn't read my latest interview with him, check that out here.
#96. 4-star power forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton: He has Cal in his top ten. Once again, if you didn't read my latest interview with him, check that out here.
#100. 4-star shooting guard Jamal Mashburn, Jr.: I did a little bit of sleuthing. It does appear as though the Thorpe family knows the Mashburn family pretty well, though I can't say that relationship will have a huge impact on whether or not Mashburn comes to Cal. Personally, I don't see how it can hurt, though. As a reminder, Mashburn will visit Cal at the end of the month.
#130. 4-star small forward Mwani Wilkinson: I honestly haven't gotten much of a feel for this one, but what isn't encouraging is that he's already starting to set up official visits and so far Cal is yet to have one scheduled with him.
#133. 3-star power forward Terren Frank: He was offered by the previous staff, but I'm not sure how aggressive the new staff is with him. I get the vibe the new staff has cooled on him.
#146. 3-star power forward Noah Collier: I haven't gotten the chance to interview him, so it's hard to say where he's leaning one way or the other.
This list doesn't include all key 2020 recruits Cal is after. Most notably Brandon Angel who I think they have a great chance with. If you missed my breakdown from yesterday, read that here.
