Since it's been requested, just wanted to update on the guys they have offered left in the 2018 class. Right now as it stands, Cal has 82 scholarships filled for 2018 with Monroe Young committing yesterday and Ray Hudson returning for a sixth year. I think there'll be at least one more spot coming open in that regard, but nothings certain at this point. Attrition will happen one way or another:
Committed:
Monroe Young, was expected
Have Visited
OLB Joey Ogunbanjo -Still taking his official visit to Utah next week (Maybe not, possible he goes to Vandy instead), still feel pretty solid about him in regards to Cal, he's a top priority to close on
DL Christian Jones - Has official visits to UCLA and Vanderbilt lined up after this week. Cal has him playing defense, which the other two schools don't. I think there's a decent chance there, after he decommitted from SMU earlier today.
CB DJ Brown - He's taking three more visits in these last two weeks, to Northwestern, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Those will be pretty big competition for Brown, who's had his recruitment explode
ATH John Torchio - I will be extremely surprised if he doesn't commit soon. Lifetime Cal fan, double legacy, all that jazz
DE Elijah Wade - The Cal staff just visited him in home the other day, with Justin Wilcox making his way over to Vegas. Wade has been bland about his visits, and the LA schools are obvious threats here. Wade visited Cal back for the Ole Miss game. Doesn't seem the most likely at this point
Yet to Visit, scheduled to visit
LB Chris Fatilua - played in the Poly Bowl, did alright, Cal is still his best offer at this point
OLB Caleb Kelly - A late offer who visited Ole Miss last week and has frequently been touted as a guy Stanford would like. An effective OLB type who the Bears would love to pull out of Georgia
Yet to visit, nothing announced
CB Taiyon Palmer - Has blown up recently with a lot of big offers in the south in addition to Cal. No indication that he's coming out on a visit.
Committed Elsewhere
CB Vincent Gray - committed to Michigan after they gave him an offer and a mea culpa for not offering earlier
TE/DE Casey Rogers - committed to Nebraska after his OV there
