Shorter practice today, one Wilcox still called intense, as they move forward into a padded practice tomorrow, doesn't sound like a scrimmage day, but it'll be interesting:
Some notes:
- Laird and McMorris were fully back today, got to see Malik used as a true fullback, which was nice. Defense blew up the one play to him, but he was making some solid blocks
- Wharton and Noa were back catching punts, as Wilcox is looking to 'ease them into it'
- Good days had by Tevin Paul, Josh Drayden, Nikko Remigio and Ray Hudson. Paul had a couple stops in the backfield as well as batting a pass down on the first play. There was one play where Paul timed his getoff, beat the lineman off the ball, and got a hand on the ball-carrier quick for Maldonado to finish off
- Drayden had a pick in red-zone drill, and also went up against the much taller Moe Ways and stripped the ball out late after Ways tried to get one over him.
- Remigio was just consistent, catching contested slants, making plays in traffic, catching a seam/fade from McIlwain for a TD in 7 on 7 work
- Hudson got run during a blitz period, became a great safety valve as Bowers just got it out. Also made a one handed TD catch in red zone 7 on 7
- Defense gets super pumped during practice. To the point where the DBs and a couple LBs were all dancing on the sideline, in unison to the 'Cupid Shuffle,' as it looked like GA was leading them in that. They all went nuts went Branden Smith deflected a fade in the end zone after that
- Another day, another Jordan Duncan fade for a TD. They tried it again two plays later, but Anusiem broke it up
- Couple other TDs in Redzone, Garbers to a wide open Castles on a play action pass (I expect to see Castles do that at least once this year, Matt Rockett pulling out the toe tap on a seam to the back of the end zone, and Brandon Singleton catching a slant on a rope from Bowers
- Maldonado got a little ahead of himself, taking down Garbers after a poor snap
More to come in a little bit
