In watching his film earlier, I'm surprised Sidney isn't being recruited more heavily. He's got good instincts, but I understand if coaches wanted to see more than the three games he played in spring (missed a couple due to injury). He does have a couple SEC offers though (from Arkansas before the coaching change there, dad played there, and Ole Miss. Neither school is recruiting him at the moment). First play of his film is him getting a pick-six off Noah Fifita on the first play of the game against Servite.
Notable things from him:
- Watson has been recruiting him since he was at UNLV
- Has talked with Nikko a bit about Cal, played with both Nikko's younger brothers, feels he fits a lot of what Cal is looking for with his play style
- Since he had to sit out a couple games with injury, he ended up coaching the last couple of the season, which plays into what Cal likes about him, which is his smarts.
This is a recruiting battle I'd think Cal can win as long as they want him. Sidney reminds me a bit of a bigger Traveon Beck. His change of direction and willingness to hit is impressive.
