I know the sample size has been very small so far, but a few observations might be in order for Jaylen Brown. His height and muscular frame mean he can play either SF or PF at this level. He has the quickness and strength and confidence to drive on the great majority of defenders at this level. He can also finish with either hand. He can also rebound against taller players because of his athleticism and muscular frame. At this point, however, his "pure shooting ability" ranges somewhere between a c+ and a b-. Given that the three point line in the NBA is 22feet three inches rather the current distance may mean that NBA defenders may slack off significantly when guarding Jaylen and dare him to continually shoot threes . Because of his height, Jaylen projects as either a SG or SF in the NBA. Those positions place a premium on pure shooting ability and the ability to handle the ball and pass effectively to the open man. For Jaylen to be a marquee NBA player, he will have to improve in the above areas. These are not impossible tasks. given his drive and determined temperament, he will no doubt improve in these areas. In the meantime, he will continue to thrill we Cal fans with his skills. If he can pretend there are no NBA scouts watching his every move, perhaps he can concentrate more on being an integral team member rather than feeling he has to drive against two or three defenders at every opportunity. God giveth and God taketh away. Good problem to have. So much betterthan the alternative. Go Jaylen--go bears--
