Hey guys, I talked with two players today. Jordan Schakel, a small forward from Bishop Montgomery High School in Southern California and P.J. Washington, a 4-star power forward from Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada. Most of you probably know who P.J. is, but Jordan has recently surfaced on the radar. It's also important to note that Jordan doesn't have an offer from Cal right now. Both guys are 2017.

Anyways, here are some key quotes from both players.

Jordan Schakel on his relationship with the Cal staff: "I feel I have a really good relationship with the staff. Coach Yann has become a really good friend. We talk about once a week. He’s a funny guy.”

Jordan Schakel on what other schools are after him: "The schools showing the most interest would be USC, Rice, LMU, and Boise State. Those schools have all offered me scholarships.”

Jordan Schakel on what matters most to him in a program: "When it comes to picking a program, first is academics. Cal is a great academic school. Second is the coaching staff, how they coach the game, and also being in a system where I will be used.” It should be noted that Jordan Schakel has a 4.3 GPA. At least according to his mixtape.

P.J. Washington on his relationship with the Cal staff: "Our relationship is really good. I feel really comfortable with the coaching staff. They are really good people. I’ll ask them about how the team is doing and they’ll tell me how the team is doing. I think they [Cal] can do better. They’re young. I think they’ll go far in the tournament this year and do well in conference.”

P.J. Washington said UCLA, Arizona, Texas, Michigan State, Florida, Kentucky, and UNC in addition to Cal are the schools recruiting him the hardest and showing the most interest.

Also, P.J. Washington knows Cuonzo Martin from Cuonzo's days in Tennessee and Wyking Jones from his days at Louisville. His dad told me that Cal is one of the top two or three coaching staffs that are recruiting his son in terms of their overall relationship and ability to connect with his son.
