Not perfect as the schedule dictates final outcomes and teams that are thin or hit by the injury bug are prone to late swoons (though that lack of depth is ultimately on the HC).
Cal won 4 of its first 6 and lost 5 of its last 6 but I'm not sure that tells the full story.
Using Phil Steele's grading system which takes into account the opponents strength or weakness, he provides each game with a post season grade.
Cal averaged a grade of 83.6 for the full season. HOWEVER, the first half of the seasons grade was 80.7 which improved to 86.5 the last six games. I find that encouraging especially given the loss of Scarlet, McClure and Piatt in the 2nd half of the year.
Hopefully that trend continues and manifests itself as a lot more wins in 2015
