Dear readers ( and those of you slightly south of dear) Please forgive me for being tardy with my response. It has taken me a long time to search my soul and brain for the right thoughts and right words to express how I feel. Because most of you are Cal grads, it will be easy for you to understand that, with the sword of Damocles poised two inches above my neck, I cannot and will not continue under these less than auspicious circumstances. No one, with an ounce of sanity, or self-respect, would labor under such a contract. To those of you who are the least inclined to mourn my passing from this venerable site, well-----God bless you too. I am certain you arrived at your criticisms and disapprovals honestly and never meant to harm me out of personal malice . I'm sure you always gave me the benefit of the doubt just as I now give you the benefit of the doubt. To those of you who may be inclined to shed a tear or two, buck up!!!There are greater debacles. If Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are not glorious examples of the decline of western civilization in general, and of the US in particular, well then, 50 years or so of historical and political reading have been for naught.
It has been suggested by some ( Phisig included) that I was banned because Marc objected vehemently to my political incorrect views which I gleefully typed using purple prose and off-beat humor. No---we must suppose Marc is a Cal grad, and, as such, is an honorable man who would never dream of censoring someone merely because his comments were too often on thge banks of the politically correct current which continues to rage rapidly. No---we must suppose Marc was responding to a different and higher muse when he decided, thyat, on balance, my continued presence on this site amounted to a net negative. In thew future, I will continue to be a Sturdy Golden Bear. I am proud of thge fact that my name adorns the Haas pavilion lobby wall commemorating those who have given generously to the building of Haas Pavilion. In addition, next year, for the 29th year in a row, I will buy a Haas season ticket. My Doctor told me that I should really give up my harmless habits---Makers Mark, Wild turkey, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Opium, cigarettes and hookers. I told my Doctor it would give me great pleasure if she would try to perform a very awkward anatomical act upon herself---We have this arrangement---I pay her and she allows me to verbally abuse her. ( It's a cultural thing)
And so, without further ado, with your permission and indulgence, I take my leave. I wish you all happy trails and smooth sailing. Respectfully, Dan 123.
PS---this September I will go the Nevada Senior Olympics for the fifth time. I first went in 1999. I participate in both team play and individual events. ( Basketball) My next medal will be my ninth.
