Cal offered a couple of Texas 2016 prospects late last week, both on the defensive side of the ball:
One was defensive tackle Anthony Watts of Yates in Houston. He's a listed 6'5/280, but that weight seems like a stretch. Cal is his second offer, along with Nevada. He is not yet rated by Rivals.
Here are Watts' highlights. He's long and lean and as a result has trouble staying low. But he's got the motor and a good getoff.
The other offeree was linebacker Jordan Carmouche, a 6'/216 pounder on a stacked Manvel team. Rated a 5.6 3-star, he has 18 offers at this juncture, including some big time programs. He's a speedy OLB type.
