Checked Swanigan's Rivals and ESPN profiles yesterday to see if there was any info/reaction concerning his Cal OV, and was amused to see that neither service noted his OV to Cal. (ESPN does not even list Cal as one of the schools that offered him.)
Also discovered, to my surprise, that Swanigan is listed at "only" 6-8. But if he weighs his listed weight of 275 pounds, my guess is he uses his bulk to full advantage. Both Rivals and ESPN rate him as a 5-star recruit, with ESPN putting him at No. 8 (only two slots behind Rabb), and Rivals putting him at No. 17 or 18 (don't recall which it was).
I have not seen any film on this kid. Was wondering what his strengths are, and where he needs to improve. (I realize we may well not get him, but I'm nevertheless curious, given that we still stand a chance.) I'm assuming he brings a lot to the table, or he would not have a five star rating. Does he have any kind of offensive repertoire to go with his rebounding and defensive skills? At 6-8, I''m guessing he may be a bit challenged going up against true centers, and am wondering if he is more of a PF. I see nothing wrong with Cal using two quality PF's if we can get them.
