For our Cal defense...still plenty of room for improvement. However, having said that the biggest difference for me between 2014 and 2015 Cal defense is the 18 turnovers and 18 sacks so far. Many of them plays that could very well have changed the outcome of several close games.
Was really great to see a number of D leaders make important plays today vs WSU:
Was really great to see a number of D leaders make important plays today vs WSU:
- McClure returning the fumble (caused by D Allensworth) fake punt in for a TD
- Drew with the late INT
- Darius White with the forced fumble
- The D had 7 sacks today (Kragen, Looney, Jefferson, Jalil, McClure, etc)
- The D held WSU to 14 yards rushing, a YPC of 0.6
''We're just trying to write our own script,'' safety Stefan McClure said. ''Last year's defense is last year's defense. They're not going to make or not make a play for us this year. We're just all out there trying to earn everyone's respect. We just have a chip on our shoulder.''
