On Wednesday at 8:00 PM PST on Pac-12 Networks, #25 ranked Cal men's basketball will take on UC Irvine at Haas Pavilion. Click here for Trace's excellent scouting report of the Anteaters.
A couple of notes:
At the moment, Ivan Rabb is questionable/doubtful for the game, meaning he's questionable, but definitely leaning towards the doubtful side of the coin as opposed to the probable side. Don't expect Rabb to play.
The Anteaters are dealing with an injury of their own. Trace mentioned in his preview that UC Irvine senior point guard Luke Nelson, their leading scorer from last season (13.7 PPG), is dealing with a hamstring injury. His status for the game is "questionable" at the moment.
If neither Rabb or Nelson play, Cal should win this game fairly comfortably. If Nelson plays and Rabb doesn't, this could be a fairly close game, but Cal should still win. At the moment, assuming Nelson and Rabb are out, I'm picking Cal to win 77-61. Cal is a better 3-point shooting from deep, much better defensive team, and they should murder UC Irvine on the boards.
