ESPN Pac 12 Blog just posted a way too early prediction on the all conference team. I'm guessing they will be wrong in 60%+ of their predictions BUT they still didn't have a single Cal player on the team.
Last year we had Goff and Kragen.
What about next year? It's certainly an argument that our Bears might struggle a bit when you look at a lack of obvious elite players.
Offense:
QB - Very unlikely a first time starter is an All Pac 12 players
RB - I believe Watson, Muhammed, Enwere et al are a very solid group and will have a big season but none are elite backs
WR - Young and talented but no obvious all conference players here
OL - Here's where I think we will have a chance. Borrayo is IMO among the top 7-8 returning OL in the conference. Cochran has the size and natural ability if he can improve on his late season performance
Defense:
DL - Looney has a real shot at Pac 12 honors. We'll see a big jump in his performance after a solid sophomore season. Could be a good group at DE yet no obvious all conference types
LB - Downs has the talent and now the experience
S - Drew has a real shot to get some honors, perhaps Piatt as well
CB - Really like the mix of talent and depth here but I don't see a standout
Net net is we're shy an obvious group of elite players. For the Bears to have a big year, we're going to have to see quite a few RS frosh and sophomores emerge as star players.
