A change for this season as Cal moves to the ACC is that there are no more restrictions on student sections being situated behind the visiting sideline. Coincidentally, the Bears have now formally announced that the home sideline will now be on the west side of California Memorial Stadium. That'll put the Bears in the shade on the press box side for any afternoon games. The students are going to remain in place on the east sideline meaning they will be directly behind the visiting bench. Could be a nice little home-field advantage for Cal.

The Pac-12 did not allow its teams to have students behind the visiting benches.

As we know cal football is where hope goes to die. I don't think this is very scientific but interesting at least.
