I have watched a whole lot of football in the last 48 hours, and all of it largely reinforces the notion that it is hard to succeed without a quality quarterback.

Alabama had a whole lot of talent, but not at QB. Blake Sims defines, IMO, the term "mediocre." He could scramble decently and he completed a few passes, but he made repeated boneheaded decisions and throws. By contrast, Ohio State's "third string quarterback" was anything BUT "third string." The dude put his throws on the money, and his running ability was phenomenal. He just plowed over would be tacklers. I'd take him over either Miller or Barrett.

Today, Arizona proved how badly you can stink it up in the playoffs if your QB stinks. Can't even remember the name of the Cardinals QB; he was THAT forgettable. The Arizona OL was not all that great, but their QB flat out sucked. They should seek to draft Ohio State's "third stringer."

At the other end of the spectrum, you have Mariota and Winston. Two really good QB's. Winston's team lost, but he had a pretty good game aside from that late fumble. Showed really good leadership and class with both his play and his encouragement of his teammates. He will be drafted high notwithstanding the off field stuff. Mariota was just incredible. Can't wait to see him face off with tOSU. Mariota is already better than Kaepernick.
