In thinking of the best way to describe Cal's offense, I would use the term "slow developing". From the very first play with the receiver in motion then throwing a WR screen to him, to a terrible looking double reverse, Cal's O has no snap to it.
It's as if the players are still thinking their way through the plays instead of just playing. That is a coaching issue. It sadly reminds me a bit of Ben Braun's bball offense. Sure the players know where they are supposed to go based on the playbook, but they aren't translating that into playing fast.
