Cal's trip to Denton, Texas is more than just a season opener for some of the Bears, as over a dozen of the players will be going back to their home state to kick off the 2023 season. Some of these players, including Craig Woodson and Myles Jernigan — as well as offensive line coach Mike Bloesch and OC Jake Spavital — spoke this week about going back to Texas and playing in front of a "home" crowd.
The team's season opener should prove truly special, as many of the players' family and friends will be heading over to see the Bears. For those far away from home in Berkeley, getting to play close to home — albeit just for the weekend — is a cherry on top of what they’ve all been waiting for: the arrival of the 2023 college football season.
