Congratulations to Pac-12 "leadership" for acing the conference out of the playoff picture. The non-call targeting on Porter Gustin is the only thing keeping Washington State from being 7-0 right now, and right in the thick of a playoff spot given Ohio State's fall. On to the rankings...

1. Washington State 6-1 (3-1)
Anyone gonna disagree on this? Any team that holds Oregon scoreless in a half has a legit defense, and Leach's offense is the most unstoppable in the conference. How the hell can a team that recruits in the 40s nationally be better than teams routinely in the Top 25?
Next: at Stanford

2. Utah 5-2 (3-2)
Man would they kill to play Washington again. Really should have won that game, IMO, given how they were basically even in that game minus terrible turnovers. Might as well get the two division champs at the top of the rankings as soon as possible. No team has ever gone higher up in my rankings than Utah has. Wittingham is a Top 3 coach in the conference.
Next: at UCLA

3. Oregon 5-2 (2-2)
Herbert played tremendously against Cougs in second half, but where was his performance in the first half? No legit good team ever gets outgunned 300 to 50 and 27-0 in one half. Ducks barely alive for North now.
Next: at Arizona

4. Washington 6-2 (4-1)
By no means a great team, but do play steady and pretty consistent, which starts to separate them from teams with similar records. Only four teams in the conference control their own destiny for a division championship, Utah, WSU, Stanford, and UW, so a lot to play for still.
Next: at Cal

5. Stanford 5-2 (3-1)
Really tough to tell about this team. Just when you think they are dead and gonna fold, they come back, and in general tend to get better in the second half of the season. Couldn't have picked a better time to play the Cougs, coming off the emotional Mt. Everest against Oregon.
Next: Washington State

6. USC 4-3 (3-2)
Even if they had lost to WSU, this is where they would be, because this is their floor this season. The Condoms can thank their lucky stars they missed both Oregon and Washington this season.
Next: ASU

-----Conference title contenders-----

7. Colorado 5-2 (2-2)
No shame losing at USC and Washington in back-to-back, and the Buffs played UW tough even with a few key guys like Shenault out with injuries. This is what most people here expected Cal to be this season.
Next: Oregon State

8. ASU 3-4 (1-3)
Poor Herm Edwards. He has four losses, all by one TD. So the team is certainly competitive and plays with great effort, but just can't get over the hump to win games. Manny Wilkins is just good enough to lose, like the CJ Beathard of Pac-12 QBs.
Next: USC

9. UCLA 2-5 (2-2)
Can't believe they almost lost to Arizona. But someone needs to explain to me how the Bruins completely shut down Cal on the ground and give up almost 300 to Arizona.
Next: Utah

10. Arizona 3-5 (2-3)
Maybe these guys aren't as bad as everyone here thought, and losing to Arizona isn't the disaster Cal fans have convinced themselves it was. Really should have beat UCLA were it not for getting a TB instead of TD on JJ Taylors 56 yard run.
Next: at Oregon

11. Cal 4-3 (1-3)
Yay, the Bears got a conference win, and on the road at that! Of course, there should almost be an asterisk given how comprehensively awful the Beavers are. Must say though, 49-7 is the most shocking score of the Pac-12 for me this season.
Next: Washington

13. Oregon State 1-6 (0-4)
When you lose at home 49-7 to the 11th team, you don't get the dignity of a #12 ranking. Cal earned #12 with its abortion at home against UCLA, but at least they looked like a legit team in Tucson. Moreover, rankings are fluid, and when you turd it up like the Beavs did at home, I show no mercy. If only there was relegation.
Next ass whooping: at Colorado
