Perhaps some of you were already aware of this, but Punahou High School is scheduled to play Del Oro High School (Loomis) at CMS next Friday, the day before Cal's opening game against Grambling. I learned about this from an article in this morning's Chronicle, the primary subjects of which were Kanawai Noa and Semisi Uluave. Both of those guys played at Punahou.. They are roomies at Cal.
I assume it is Sonny that came up with the idea of having Punahou play a game here at CMS. Have to give him (or whoever came up with the idea) a whole lot of credit. That is a pipeline (pun intended) that Sonny would be well advised to nurture. This thing, along with holding several practices at DLS and hiring a local high school coach (the former Concord High head coach) are savvy moves on Dykes' part. Makes you wonder why stuff like that was not done long before Dykes' arrival.
BTW, the Chronicle report, written by a Chronicle staffer named Connor Letourneau (never heard of him before), says that Noa will "likely become Cal's first team punt returner." I assume Letourneau was not talking about 2016. But what about Treggs?
