2018 power forward Jordan Brown from Roseville, CA visited Cal last week. He competed for Team USA in the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 championships. His tweets below confirm the visit.

Here are my initial thoughts on Jordan's game:

Standing at 6'10 and weighing 190 pounds with a 6'11.5" wingspan, Jordan Brown has tremendous height and length. He needs to bulk up, get stronger, and put on some weight, but given that he isn't turning 16 until December, this isn't anything to be worried about at the moment. By the time he's a college freshman he will have filled out a lot more.

He runs the floor really well, has a lot of energy, and has a pretty polished game. He can hit the open jump shot, post up inside, and find open teammates cutting to the basket. He has a very good all around game and demonstrates a high basketball IQ judging by his court vision. He also is good on the glass and has the length to bother shooters.

All in all, this kid has the potential to be another Ivan Rabb or Jaylen Brown for Cal. Obviously we are a couple of years away from 2018, but all the same, it's exciting that kids like Jordan Brown are visiting Cal and giving it consideration. What's obviously a huge plus in Cal's favor is that he's a local kid. Cal appears to be building a program that should be able to retain the cream of the crop in Northern California.
