Curious as to who folks think we will "lose" (in a mutual sense of the word) from the 2016 Football Recruiting Class before signing day.
Based on senior year to date performances as well as need and rumor mill, here are my thoughts:
- While this may pain some of us (thought not me), I believe we keep all of our current Rivals 2 stars. Goode is clearly GOOD, Paul has put up very nice numbers, Williams is a monster and Markus Wright is another player whose film looks very, very good.
- The three guys of which I'm skeptical ever make it to Cal are Armani Rogers, Drew Kobayashi and AJ McCollum
Rogers because three scholarship QBs is enough and I don't see the fit especially given Gilliam's skill set and senior #'s.
Kobayashi has arguably had the most disappointing senior season of any commitment and is at a position where we can keep the bar very high
McCollum may have to stick simply based on need. However, I believe SD wants to get away from JC kids and realizes the "instant depth" is almost always illusory. We will have Granado and Ooms back next year plus other youngsters who could be moved to center. Mekari?
I could imagine that leaves us with 7-8 more scholarships to give out given EEs and likely attrition. That sound about right?
