I just read on Sport's Illustrated that the NCAA is considering to change the transfer rule, so that a player can transfer the first time without having to sit out a year. Many former and current coaches are objecting to what they see as a frenzy as teams try to recruit each other's players. For example, if Cal recruits and then develops a great under-the-radar, 3 star player, a Weaver for example, what happens when LSU, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State et al contact him to see if he wants to play for a national championship contender and increase his NFL exposure as well ? Because of the high academic standards at Cal, I can see few benefits for it if such new rule is adopted by the NCAA.
