was trying to think of who I’d have on my shortlist to call if I were Wilcox. Seems to me there are two options, based on how he’s hired in the past:
* Hire a coach from a non-P5 school who’s performed well and would see cal as a promotion. Could see David Yost from Utah State or Zak Hill from Boise State as options
* Hire a P5 coach with direct connections to Wilcox, who may have flamed out elsewhere (because let’s face it we’re not poaching successful coaches from other P5 schools at this point). The name that comes to mind here actually is Tee Martin. He coached with Wilcox and clearly isn’t going to be in SC after this season.
At this point, I’d happily take either. FWIW I don’t see Troy Taylor leaving Utah to come to Cal, especially if he lands Jayden Daniels there as expected
