This is a serious question:
We generally believe our location is a strength. The Bay Area (as housing prices prove) is one of the most desirable locations in the world due to combination of weather, high paying employment opportunities, cultural experience, diversity and open mindedness.
But does those same things appeal to 17/18 yr old football/basketball athletes? I'm sure it does for many but when I think about our long dated difficulty in keeping our local athletes I wonder about that. My sense is that the top local athletes rarely are beneficiaries of what makes the Bay Area great and may find THEIR opportunities and experiences more attractive elsewhere.
