Hey guys, I just spoke with Marvin Lea, Alec Hickman's AAU coach.
Marvin Lea told me "It was strictly academic. Cal's academic criteria to get in was stricter than we realized. For Cal, he needed a higher GPA in his core classes."
To expand on this a little bit, the UC requirements have certain core classes that are needed in order to get in and his GPA in those core classes was too low. That's the deal.
I will write an article that fleshes this out more, but for now, that's the skinny.
