Maybe it's because they are now in 10th place (out of 11 teams) in the Pac-12 and the dream of hosting a regional is dead, and of making the NCAA tournament is on life support?

To be fair, the standings suggest the conference has never had more parity and/or been more mediocre. Just 5 games separates 10th place from 1st.

But the bigger question is what has happened to Pac-12 Baseball? There are only Four Pac-12 teams in the Top 50 of the RPI, and the highest ranked team is Arizona at #24.

3rd place Arizona is the top-ranked team in the conference at #24, then it's:
#35 UW currently in 1st place
#42 Oregon State
#49 Cal

The conference's 2nd place team (Utah - Utah?!?!?!) is RPI #131 if you can believe it. What's amazing is the Pac-12 is the #3 rated conference behind the ACC and SEC, but the gap between those two is gigantic.
