Cal snags commitment from high three-star OL Elisha Faamatuainu on visit
The in-state prospect from Murrieta picked the Bears over offers from USC, Oregon, SMU, Auburn, BYU and Michigan State.
Cal's secret visitor Elisha Faamatuainu was the first recruit to announce his commitment during the latest visit weekend for the Bears. The high three-star recruit from Murrieta Valley High School down in Murrieta had been pursued by several Power 4 programs this offseason. USC was in pursuit for quite some time while Arizona State was another big player in his recruitment. Oregon, BYU, Auburn, Utah and Michigan State are some of the other programs on his offer list. Instead, the Bears made a big move as of late and now he's the seventh commitment in the 2026 class.
Cal is now sitting at No. 42 in the team recruiting rankings following this decision from Faamatuainu.
I watched him at the Rivals Camp in LA earlier this spring, and there is a lot to like about Faamatuainu. He has good size and moves well at 300 pounds. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a shot to play early in his career with the Bears. I'd expect other programs to continue pursuing him, but it's a big move by the Bears to lock him up on the official visit. Getting him on campus was the big step, and it paid off.
