Team is fired up to go to Australia - viewed as a huge bonus - for many of them it will be their first trip out of the country. Team will get 10 days there. Earliest game of the year, lots of TV coverage, expecting a sold out stadium.

Our opponent is Hawaii, fresh off firing Norm Chow. I caught a couple of our defensive coaches discussing a scouting report Chow provided them on his old team.

Overall: Not a good team and starting over with a new coach who doesn't have a stellar resume.
The Good: Talented RB in Paul Harris. He'll be among the MWs best TB, good combo of speed and size. Productive last year behind a very so so OL. Couple of good WRs as well in Marcus Kemp and Devan Stubblefield. Kemp may be the MWs best WR. Some good young sophomores backing them up. Defensively, they played hard and rarely caved and mounted a decense pass rush.
The Bad: Their likely starting QB can't throw or run well. Inaccurate, not very productive. An OL that will need to replace it's two best players. A defense that doesn't have much depth or top line talent.

Bottom line: Good team for Cal to kick off the season, especially with the new faces on offense for the Bears. I suspect our Bears will be a 10-14 point favorite.
