"Georgia Tech has made Cuonzo Martin a prime target for its head-coaching vacancy, multiple sources told The Chronicle on Wednesday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets have “zeroed in” on Martin and are “very interested” in working out a deal with him, one source with knowledge of the situation said. This comes after multiple reported possibilities for Georgia Tech’s opening have been removed from consideration.

/**/ Duke assistant coach Jeff Capel withdrew himself from the search Sunday, according to CBS Sports. Vanderbilt’s Bryce Drew has since agreed to become the Commodores’ next head coach.

Martin, 44, is under campus review into whether he fulfilled his responsibility as a mandatory reporter of sexual harassment allegations against assistant coach Yann Hufnagel, who was fired last month. Martin has been interested in pursuing opportunities elsewhere “for some time,” a source close to him said.

Martin is an intriguing option for the Yellow Jackets for several reasons. He has a proven track record recruiting the South, including last spring’s addition of five-star recruit and Atlanta-area native Jaylen Brown. His Cal teams have performed well in the classroom, and Georgia Tech is a similarly rigorous academic university. He also boasts two NCAA Tournament appearances in the past three years."
