1.) With DRob in the fold, Cal vs. Stanford recruiting in terms of stars gets a lot closer in 2016. Shaw got 2 more 4 stars than Dykes and one less below 3 star (Veasy as a JC getting 2 stars is the difference). That's very comparable. Really when looking at stars, only USC and UCLA had clearly stronger Pac 12 classes (before you work through who qualifies and who was well scouted). That's very comparable.

2.) We're getting to be a fast team. My guesses:

4.45 or better guys:

Khalfani Muhammed
Demetris Robertson
Chad Hansen
Brandon Singleton

4.5 or better:

Caleb Coleman
Tre Turner
Billy McCrary
Jaylinn Hawkins
Vic Wharton III

Very close to 4.5

Malik Psalms
Nygel Edmonds
Josh Drayden
Melquise Stovall
Zion Echols
Traveon Beck

In terms of skill position players, we've got plenty of wheels. Where we could use some work is in our speed at LB and DL. Saffle, Weaver, Goode, Downs, Brown and Tongilava are all faster guys but we're 2 speedy DEs and 2 more speedy LBs away from having good defensive team speed.

3.) Dykes seems to think we've got more good news coming:
- Stud LB in '17 will decide tomorrow
- Rick Neuheisel speculated today on the radio that Davis Webb is a likely Cal commit
- More 2017 verbal commits/silents in the works? Dykes did tell me a few weeks back that he felt 2017 would be a step up from 2016 in terms of recruiting. Said the combo of APR, 8 wins, NFL draft success and the staff getting stronger in recruiting would add up
