In a closed scrimmage against SDSU, UCLA frosh Aaron Holiday apparently tore it up. SDSU coach Fisher was quoted as saying he was clearly the best player on the floor.
I think Alford is a bad apple yet UCLA has some talent this year. Welch, Parker, Hamilton, Alford Jr and Holiday are a good 5 and they have some depth with RS and transfer players. If Alford can coach, this feels like a sweet sixteen team that should be in the top 25 most of the year.
Arizona played Chico State in their exhibition game and Sean Miller's comments after the game were interesting. Ryan Anderson, the BC transfer, has clearly established himself as the teams best player and leader. Miller said that Anderson has dominated UA practices like no other Wildcat player in Miller's tenure. Some of that may be the drop off in talent (quite a bit IMO) but high praise none the less.
Sounds like UA insiders are high on their front line with Tarc, Anderson, Tollefson and Ristic. Concerns are in the backcourt. Parker Cartwright is viewed as half a player and their incoming frosh are talented but not ready for prime time.
Fun to discuss but all likely meaningless at this point. Looking forward to watching Cal tonight.
