Sonny held a presser/conference call today. Here's the noteworthy stuff:
- Drew: still don't know. Waiting on surgery still, expects a diagnosis and timeline in the next two weeks (still expecting the worst on my end, FWIW).
- Semisi Uluave, who went down in the spring game, has a sprained knee. Phew.
- Sonny liked what he saw from all the QB's in the spring game, but is also excited to get Vic Viramontes on campus.
- Kaufman suggested they rest the main defensive guys bc they didn't need the reps or experience, so that's what they did.
- Pleased with APR score improvements and what it means from both a program and recruiting standpoint. Does believe the single year score will improve next year (aiming for 1000). Proud of going from worst to first.
- Thought the Rams were impressed enough with Goff when they visited Berkeley to work him out a couple months back that they could make a move. Very complimentary of how Jared has carried himself throughout.
- Lasco as well: "whoever drafts him is getting a steal...who else has a 60 yard TD run and then chases down the kick returner on the next play?"
- Stephen Anderson: unique skillset that the NFL loves. Can play TE or flex out
- Lawler: improved a lot on the field and in the classroom in terms of work ethic and drive. Excited for him.
- Treggs and Davis: Both have good speed and ball skills. Private workouts have improved their stock a lot.
- Shouted out McClure, Darius White and Rigsbee as guys who deserve shots in the NFL too.
- He'll head to Chicago with Jared for the Draft. That'll be some good publicity.
- Kline is graduating this spring, confident he can get admitted to grad school.
- Looking to get Chad Hansen, Griffin Piatt and possibly Patrick Worstell on scholarship this summer. They deserve to be rewarded
- Complimentary of CB Antoine Albert and how he's worked to improve. Did say he's anxious to get the 5 2016 DB signees on campus as they'll get a shot to play.
