Earlier today, 2018 4-star point guard James Akinjo decommitted from UConn after head coach Kevin Ollie got fired. I have gotten confirmation that Cal will in fact go after Akinjo. I wanted to check on this because I know they had previously cooled on him after getting Paris Austin and Darius McNeill.
It really does look like Cal is looking to revamp their whole roster next year. One scholarship is presently open, but it's looking like 2-3 scholarships may in fact be opening up. Cal is going after both Akinjo and Tevian Jones in addition to Jordan Brown. Gonna be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
As for 2018 4-star point guard Brandon Williams, Cal has reached out, but at this time are not trying with him. I wanted to check on him as well. Looks like they're focusing in on Akinjo at the point guard position.
