Today we bid farewell (kinda) to Grant Marek. I've worked with Grant for 2 and a half years here, and its been quite a ride. We've covered coaching searches in the two primary revenue sports, all sorts of recruiting hootenanny, the worst Cal Football season in recent memory, and offseasons full of turmoil. And it's been a total blast.
Covering Cal Sports is a privilege, and should be treated as such. I learned that from watching Grant in action. Good times and bad, we have a great gig. And even during the bad times, we managed to maintain some levity, both privately and on the boards. Grant is a mentor, a friend, a colleague, an accomplice, and a sometimes partner in commiseration. He's mighty good at what he does and his shoes will be tough to fill. But I'm stepping into a great spot because of the road he's hoed, and for that he has my gratitude. He gave me the opportunity to join the team here, and now I have the opportunity to try and grow the site even more.
Our time working together is full of nothing but fond memories for me. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Grant, and feel lucky to have both his counsel and friendship going forward...

But really, I'm so glad to finally be rid of the oppressive yoke that you had me under. I can't wait to do things totally different than you did, because I know it will somehow be way better now that you're gone.
Welcome to Ginger-Free GBR, folks...Now we have a SOUL.
Aw shucks, I can't do it. This is all amiable, and this is your day as much as ours.
You're the man, buddy. I'll do my best to make you proud. We all will.
Don't be a stranger!
