Went to shaggybevo to see how they feel about their team and saw this thread:
http://www.shaggybevo.com/board/showthread.php/156998-UT-raising-ticket-prices-by-average-of-6-percent-this-year
Most of the complaints we share here and also goes along with why I canceled my season tickets a couple of years ago even though I can afford them (admitably if I lived in Berkeley I might still own them, but I digress):
Some points in the thread I agree with:
1) Why go through the hassle of going to games (let alone cost) when I can stay at home and watch the game in HD with access to booze and cheap food? particularly now in the day and age when every game is guaranteed to be on tv.
2) Problem of ads and continued commercialization/nfl making of the experience.
3) Used to be I could get better or at least equivalent seats by buying season tickets and selling the ones I didn't use. Now I save big money by simply buying tickets on the secondary market to just go to the games I want to go to. Hell for away games I haven't bought tickets through the ATO since the 06 Tenn game.
So I pose these questions.
For those like myself who have canceled their season tickets. What level of winning would it take to buy them back? Or what changes? We all know a successful football program will help this university immensely, but with all the advantages of staying home is there enough of a fanbase to get to the point where we are selling out most games even if we start winning big?
