If Orangebloods is indicative, they're not thinking all that much about Cal yet. Still focused on bitching about the offensive play calling by their former Co-OC's, the ND beatdown, and on whether Strong is the guy for the future. (BTW, who ever hear of Co-OC's?) But I DID manage to find at least one post that already discusses Cal a bit. Pretty entertaining. They obviously know that Goff is good, and that we have some capable WR's. Check out this post from "Clob94," especially that second half of it:

"I didn't bother reviewing ND last week because.......... well, I think you know why.

First, a win is a win and we needed one more than anyone in the nation. Had we dropped this game, I believe it would have been the beginning of the end for this team and staff.

Second, the play calling was much improved. By no means did we call a perfect game and 2 of our tds and one indirectly, came from special teams and defense pick 6 as well as an int that went down to the 2 yard line. That's 21 points not coming from sustained drives. Without those 3 plays, we lose that game. So we still need some production out of the offense. More please, more.

3rd, heard looked much more confident, settled and poised. I've come to the conclusion that he's the sort of kid that has to KNOW he is starting and not in jeopardy of being yanked, before he can get comfy. That's just mental and he will grow out of that. I do like his speedy feet and separation he can get in open field. Find open field for a play maker and he'll usually make a play. Granted, rice isn't chock full of defenders running 4.4 40's, and he won't be able to scramble like that against a tcu or a D with more team speed, but I'll take something over standing flat footed in the pocket and being sacked. His willingness to create space is applauded and with maturation, he could be an effective "oh sh!t the play is breaking down let's buy some time and get some yards" type QB.

4th, it's official. Swoopes, god bless ya son but this just ain't for you. Watson, go kick rocks back in the AAC slick.

5th, Dline. I said during two a days it was tough to tell how good we would be on Dline because players were staying up high and trying not to get anyone hurt. Well, they've answered my question. Malcom Brown WAS that good and poona and the rest of those cats aren't there yet. Little bitty rice ran it up the gut on us all night. Unacceptable. Period. These guys need to much better, rapidly. We still struggle with a mobile QB and rice exposed that. We lack closing speed on the Dline. We lack a good first step during passing plays. We've got no "get off", so to speak. We weren't shedding our blockers and gap responsibility was poor at best. I think we will be forced into 4 down lineman at some point. We ain't got the horses for only 3 down lineman.
6th, secondary. I'm still not impressed. Rice has no big name receivers or a QB with a big time arm. Their lack of talent made our DBs look better than they really are. These guys need to get their coverage calls locked down. We had a few blown coverages including the same one we had against ND, only rice didn't have the athletes to take advantage of it. Goff and Cal have already watched the film, I promise he has, and he and his merry band of receivers are licking their chops. We have to put this guy on the ground, multiple times, or he will sling it all over the field and it will look like a blue and gold track meet. How do we get him on the ground? Details to follow.
8th- special teams. Thank you for being a bright spot. Ausie punter dude- put anotha shrimp on tha barbie mate. Good show. Daje and company looked good. Granted, rice isn't full of gold medal 100 meter dash champs, but we exploited that and looked good doing so.
9th- (deep breath........ exhale)

Malik, son, come grab a seat, we need to talk.

Son, let me start by saying, great game. Over all I am pleased with what I've seen. Even some of the mistakes. You've got such potential. You've got such upside. You are so close, yet so far away from being one of the best linebackers to ever wear the orange and white. I know you'll have some growing pains on some plays. It's to be expected. We talked about this last week when you over ran some plays and ran yourself out of them. Your effort is unquestionable. Son, you are all go, no quit. But you can't, you just can't come off the edge and lose contain. You are so damn fast that you could lose contain in HS and still catch the guy. You can't lose contain in college. Rule number 1, never lose contain. Get up the field, you're a master at that, a damn master. You get in the backfield and wreck shop like no other. But you gotta keep containment. We are playing Cal this week son. And I know what you're thinking: 5 sacks on Goff and a broken collar bone for him. Yes, son. You can do that. But, if you lose contain, and yes Goff doesn't have much speed, but if you lose contain and the play breaks down, you'll give Goff that extra few seconds he needs for his wrs to shake lose and burn our secondary. Goff won't beat you with his feet son, but he will with his brain and rocket arm. You are a manchild son. Manchild. But this week you'll be playing a legit future NFL starter. Pin your fvcking ears back, do what you do, and plant his a$$ like a rose bush. Hit him after he throws. Make him get up off the ground. Want to go up high on him, ok. Just make sure if you do, that's it's lights out. Otherwise, put your hat in his chest and compress. Multiple times.

Finally, I'm out".
