Cal is a 2.5 pt favorite, but let's say we go into Austin and smash the Longhorns. Our D continues to play at a high level, UT continues its offensive ineptitude and our offense gets into rhythm early ~ we leave the fans at Darrell Royal stunned with a 41 - 7 victory (BYU's score v. Texas last year) or *gasp* something like UCLA's 66 - 3 victory in '97. Then UT continues towards a losing season and Cal keeps momentum towards a 8 or 9 win campaign.
Then... I have to believe Charlie Strong could get the hook at the end of his second season and Sonny ~ who makes a Pac-12 worst $1.8 M per year, suddenly becomes a top target for UT. Obviously, lot's of what-if's, perhaps the biggest being whether or not UT would let go of Strong after only 2 seasons.
Long story short, if we win 8 or 9 games this year, Sonny becomes an interesting pick for other schools. I hope our AD has a $3.5M/year contract extension waiting for Sonny as soon as we win our 6th game of the year.
