Love Jared and he's a great QB but last night he was awful.
Before folks blame the OL, it's true football is a team game and at times last night, they were not good. However, in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line, they created a run game and mitigated much of the pass rush. Regardless, they played better than they had the last two weeks.
And Lawler's two drops hurt us as did Davis' injury and Anderson getting banged up.
At the end of the day it was Jared Goff who made some awful decisions and some terrible throws. That game was there for us to win. We supposedly have the best QB in college football, only he was playing scared. The INTs had clearly gotten to him and he was afraid to let the ball go. He lost his confidence and his judgment. Rough, rough night for Jared.
I believe he's going to bounce back and play great from here on out. I'm looking at this as a learning lesson. We grow through adversity and that was quite clearly the worst game I've seen him play in the last two seasons. The good news is that as a team, we're pretty solid. We're short a stout DT (Jalil barely played and was a HUGE difference maker vs. the run when he was in there) and need Lasco back and out of the dog house and our OL continues to need to come together and perform better but this is a very good football team. We can win 8-9 games and perhaps even earn a rematch against the Utes in Santa Clara.
I like our chances a LOT if we meet them again on a neutral field.
